Polish and German Christmas traditions: Polish-German youth exchange in Gdansk
From November 24 to November 29, 2024 our students along with Germen students from Hansa-Gymnasium in Stralsund, took part in a week-long Polish-German youth exchange "Solidarisch mit der Natur - Christmas Traditions in Poland and Germany." "Solidarity with Nature - Christmas Traditions in Poland and Germany." It was a beautiful week of learning tolerance, cooperation, understanding and indulging in Christmas traditions. The participants of the project stayed at the House of Reconciliation and Meetings in Gdańsk, where activities took place in Polish-German groups. There were various workshops aimed to bring Polish and German youth closer to Christmas traditions in Poland and Germany. Together we baked gingerbread cookies, talked about traditions and created Advent wreaths. At the Oliwa Cathedral, we listened to an organ concert and admired the beauty of nature in the Oliwa Park. The meeting of students from Lębork and Stralsund was also a great opportunity for conversation in German and English, making new acquaintances and wonderful fun activities connecting students from both Germany and Poland. Each day of our stay began with a language warm-up and team-building games and ended with dancing and singing. In Polish-German groups we explored Gdańsk and Sopot, discovering the most interesting monuments of these beautiful cities. We also went bowling and shopping together at the Forum shopping centre. We would like to thank the organizers and staff of the House of Reconciliation and Meetings in Gdańsk: Father Piotr Pliszka for inviting us to the project, Kuba and Patrycja. Thank you! .. and .... Merry Christmas!!!!
