Erasmus+ Slovakia

Students of SLO departed for Slovakia on Sunday morning as part of the Erasmus+ program. Our Slovak hosts welcomed us very warmly and invited us into their families. On Monday, after the official welcome at the school, our students participated in school classes and in the afternoon we toured the beautiful city of Košice with a guide. It is the second largest city in Slovakia. In the following days the students attended lessons, visited the botanical garden and the Košice Museum, where we admired their national treasure. In the treasury, there are over 2900 coins made of pure gold datind back to 15th - 17th century, including some coins from Poland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. We also visited the stunning Domica Cave, where we rowed a boat inside the cave. After that, we went to the manor of the Andrassy family in the village of Betliar. This is the only property in Slovakia where all the exhibits are original. We particularly liked the library. On Friday we received our Erasmus+ certificates. On that day one of our students celebrated his 18th birthday. The hosts prepared a cake for him and we sang 'Happy Birthday' to him. In the afternoons the students spent time with Slovak families tasting local cuisine and learning about local traditions. They also spent time together with their project partners doing activities like bowling and playing billiards. The students conducted interviews with their project partners about teenage life and their future careers. The week in Slovakia went by too quickly; it was full of attractions, learning and fun.
